Reimagining The Role of Accountants | Your Accounting Best Friend | Calculated Moves

August 26, 2022

Are you tired of last-minute tax returns, filings, and surprise tax liabilities? Do you have pent-up questions for your accountant that have never been answered? When was the last time your accountant gave you ideas about how to save money on taxes without you even asking? When it comes to dealing with an accountant, you deserve more than you’ve been getting. The traditional role of an accountant was when you felt like you needed something, you told them whether that was a tax return or you’d received a notice that you needed help with or had an audit.

I’m still not sure why you had to tell your accountant you needed a tax return. Doesn’t April 15th happen at the same time every year?

Well, those things will keep you out of jail. And that’s a great thing for business owners, but let’s take a minute to reimagine the perfect role of an accountant in your business. If your best friend were a doctor, you’d ask a lot of questions, the big ones, and the small ones. You’d rely on your friend and trust that they were giving you the best advice possible because they care about you. What if working with your accountant was the same way? How much differently would your business operate? You’d ask questions and use those answers to make your business more profitable and grow your bottom line.

Our business is a family-owned and operated business. My husband Chad comes alive when he can apply his entrepreneurial expertise to help people grow their companies and realize their goals. He actively helps business owners evaluate business startups, acquisitions, mergers, and sales. He comes by this experience Honestly. His career spans a wide range of business models and management structures.

When he is not hard at work, applying his acumen and doing accounting, Chad wears many other hats, improving the lives of others in his local community and global community. He is an active member of the Lake Wylie rotary club and won the Rotarian of the year in 2016. Chad heeds the call of the outdoors and enjoys camping, hunting, scuba diving, cracking beer, and spending time on the lake with his family.

His son, Zach, takes up most of his free time. Zach has been banging on a keyboard since he was crawling on the floor. He’s a tech whiz and pushes the farm into the next level of social media. He started out by forcing us to record videos. That, of course, created the start of his position by editing the videos and creating the presence on YouTube Zach looks forward to pursuing a marketing and business administration degree in college. He enjoys paddle boarding, camping, and scuba diving.

Nancy is an integral part of our firm operations and serves the most important role as she’s my mom. She is the backbone of campground accounting, providing strong support in business management and operational functions. Nancy is at the helm of managing our office technology and organization. She is responsible for customer service and keeps things moving in bookkeeping, administration, sales processing, and tracking information for the client workflow process. She comes from a large family in Ohio and enjoys visiting their family, drinking coffee, and playing with her granddaughter. The security forces of the firm, Dixie and Fido. If you hear barking in the background of a zoom meeting, a package from Amazon might be approaching the doorstep.

Good thing we have these two pups to keep us safe. As you can see, family is a priority, and it should be just as important to you. If you are missing out on once-in-a-lifetime experiences with your family, you might want to see what our services can do for you. We’re specialists who work with you to be your accounting best friend. We encourage you to ask questions. And when we see something that you could be doing better, or if we spot trouble coming ahead, we’ll tell you. Proactive advice should be a requirement for working with an accountant.

Working with us will show you how to maximize your relationship with your accountant. Save a lot of time and money in the process and trust that someone is looking out for your best interest. Isn’t it time you reassessed how valuable your accountant could be in your business?

Donna Bordeaux, CPA with Calculated Moves

Creativity and CPAs don’t generally go together.  Most people think of CPAs as nerdy accountants who can’t talk with people.  Well, it’s time to break that stereotype.  Lively, friendly, and knowledgeable can be a part of your relationship with your CPA, as demonstrated by Donna and Chad Bordeaux. They have over 50 years of combined experience as entrepreneurial CPAs.  They’ve owned businesses and helped business owners exceed their wildest dreams.   They have been able to help businesses earn many times more profit than the average business in the same industry and are passionate about helping industries that help families build great memories.
